Planning a Weekend Getaway in the 1000 Islands

Who wouldn’t want a getaway to the 1000 islands when we have so much to offer?

Not sure what to do or what you should see here?

Well, you’re in luck because I’m here to plan out a fun-filled weekend getaway for you!

Day 1

Start your weekend off by taking a walk through downtown to explore all of the amazing shops and see our beautiful waterfront.

Downtown Gananoque

After walking for a while you are going to work up an appetite so making your way down to Laverne’s Eatery for lunch would be a great choice. Laverne’s offers many great unique options for breakfast or lunch foods.

Once you have finished lunch hop in your car and make your way out 32 highway where you will be able to explore the 1000 Islands 1800 meters above the ground! 1000 islands Helicopter tours are a great way to find out the history of the 1000 Islands and surrounding area.

Gananoque and the 1000 islands offer many great dinner options. One of my favourite places to eat is the Stonewater Pub, they are located on the water and have many different options on the menu.

After a long day traveling around you can walk across the street to the Gananoque Inn and Spa to spend the night. This hotel offers excellent affordable rooms that are located at the waterfront.

Day 2

To start off the second day in the 1000 Islands you can water the beautiful sunrise from your room and then take a short drive down to Anthony’s on the main street for a home-cooked breakfast and coffee.

After breakfast, you can head down to the waterfront and board the Gananoque City Cruises for an hour boat cruise through the 1000 Islands.

Once the boat docks you can jump in the car and head to the Shorelines casino for the afternoon. Then you can stay they for dinner and drinks.

Who wouldn’t want to end their evening with some delicious ice cream? The Pump House Creamery is new to Gananoque and has the best homemade ice cream!

Sometimes planning out a getaway trip is hard and especially when you aren’t familiar with the town. I hope this 2-day plan helps to give you an idea as to what we have to offer here in the 1000 Islands.
