Are there really 1000 islands?
There are actually 1,864 Islands that make up this amazing area known as The 1000 Islands.
How many campgrounds are in the area?
The region features more than 100 private and public campgrounds for you to choose among, many with full camping amenities and extras such as play areas, marinas and fully stocked stores.
Where are the 1000 Islands located?
The Town of Gananoque is located conveniently on the Highway 401 corridor and centrally located between urban centres such as Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Syracuse, New York. It’s minutes away from the U.S. border.

How much does a building permit cost?
Building permit fees are based on the value of your construction project and/or the square footage of the project. Projects valued at $50,000 and up require a refundable deposit of $560. An administration fee is also due when your application is submitted. On projects valued up to $30,000 an administration fee of $140 is required. On projects valued over $30,000 an administration fee of $500 is required.
