Outdoor Activities, Thrill Seekers

Adventures Along the Thousand Islands Parkway

Spend a day enjoying activities along the Thousand Islands Parkway – a beautiful drive along the waterfront or hope on the accompanying paved bicycle path that allows you to get from point A to point B safely while cycling.

To start your day off spectacularly, you can see the St. Lawrence from the water with Rockport Boat Line! When we arrived, everything was very organized, and we didn’t feel rushed. While waiting to climb aboard you could see that everything was being thoroughly cleaned. We went on the first tour of the day which meant we had to be there 9:30am sharp, but it was worth it. The weather in the morning wasn’t too hot or humid – it was the perfect temperature. As you are going along the water there are many things to keep your eye out for like the St. Lawrence statue, the bridge to the USA and of course all the beautiful homes on the waterfront. When approaching to Boldt Castle you get an amazing view of the whole island and Castle along with some facts about its construction. Watching the water be so calm and look like glass in some areas but have strong current in other areas of the water is always so mesmerizing to us. When you arrive back to Rockport you can enjoy lunch at Cornwall’s Pub, go to the gift shop, or get ice cream!

One of the best ways to spend any summer afternoon is with a tee time at Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course! Nestled in among the evergreens and rock outcroppings sits a course that will challenge your skills. With narrow fairways and elevation changes on every hole this is truly a golfer’s paradise! Located 9 kilometres east of Gananoque on the 1000 Islands Parkway is this a beautiful golf course; owned and operated by Glen House Resort, they are ready to offer many different amenities and activities for your stay in the 1000 Islands region. With the course’s friendly and helpful staff, you can be sure to have a fun and safe game, with social distancing and cleaning measures in place. To ensure the safety of each golfer, they are offering one golf cart per player, unless you are there with a family group, then you can take the same cart. The driving range is available for golfers with a tee off time to practice your swing before going out on the course.

Finish off your day by making a stop just up the parkway at the Ivy Lea Club for dinner at their stunning waterfront restaurant, or stop in to grab some homemade ice cream at the Skiff Café! The perfect ending to a perfect day!
