There are so many amazing stops in the 1000 Islands and hidden treasures that make the most of any stay in the area!
BUSL Cider
About 20 minutes east of Gananoque, down the Thousand Islands Parkway, is the perfect stop for some adventure!
A great weekend idea for anyone over the age of 19 is to make a stop at BUSL Cider. A family-owned cider establishment, located in the village of Mallorytown. They sell plenty of different, handcrafted cider flavours; a few of their staple flavours include apple, haskap, cherry, pear and blueberry and beet, and they also create some unique, seasonal flavours like peaches and cream, pumpkin and chocolate cherry. You can also try a flight of cider so you can find your favourite flavour, have a pint of your preferred cider, or purchase a takeaway bottle to enjoy at home. BUSL cider Collection offers you unparalleled quality and refined flavours. With their amazing, sweeping views of their orchard from the patio this is definitely a must go to stop for a fun weekend activity.
Jones Creek Hiking Trail
Another great stop along the way, better suited for the whole family, would be to Jones Creek hiking trail, part of the Thousand Islands National Park. At this location they have 12 kilometres worth of well marked hiking trails that vary from easy to more difficult trail loops. The trails feature beautiful lookout points with an area to take a seat to relax and enjoy the views of nature. They also have a scenic wetland boardwalk where you can view some incredible wildlife, as well as Geocaches hidden throughout all the trails. If you love to be in nature and admire the beauty of it all this is definitely a hiking spot you don’t want to miss!
Brown’s Bay can be found out along the parkway in Mallorytown as well for the perfect spot to cool off after a day spent adventuring! The sandy beach is right on the shores of the St. Lawrence River and has views of beautiful Singer Castle out on Dark Island – family friendly with a large parking area, it’s a great spot to go for a swim.
